After countless hours performing live and touring with legendary bands such as War and Tower of Power, creating new musical projects such as PHILM and Project Nfidelikah, spending time recording tracks in the studio with high and low profile artists, Pancho Tomaselli is both a seasoned musician and professional entertainer, receiving accolades for his high-energy performances from press outlets around the world. A Berklee graduate, Pancho has been honing his skills for over 20 years, continually improving his playing and exploring new techniques and musical genres.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, Pancho has long been inspired by the disparate music he grew up listening to in the Andes, including indigenous tribal folk music, 70’s era salsa, and contemporary heavy metal. Exploring avant-garde jazz in college led to study of Jaco Pastorius’ technique and unique sound. Combining all these styles and types of music, Pancho hit the studio hard in ’98 after moving to Los Angeles postgraduation, making a name for himself in the underground music scene playing local clubs and no-frills touring with the legendary Sonora Dinamita. After his playing attracted the attention of founding member of War, Lonnie Jordan, Pancho was invited to join the band and traveled the world performing their legendary brand of funk for 13 years while continuing to record records in the studio for major label artists.
Now Pancho has made a new name for himself in the post-hardcore punk world with the groundbreaking power trio group PHILM and released his most current album with experimental politi-rock group Project Nfidelikah alongside George Lynch (Lynch Mobb/Dokken) and Angelo Moore (Fishbone). Having received an incredible real-time
education playing alongside revered artists such as Dave Garibaldi (Tower of Power), where locking a groove with the drummer is paramount, and hanging backstage trading techniques with bass legends Eddie Resto (Fania All Stars), Jack Bruce (Cream) and Rocco Prestia (Tower of Power), Pancho has branched out into music education, bringing his fascination with technique, infectious positivity and intricate knowledge of a wide range of musical styles together for the benefit of his students worldwide.
